Love isn’t always pretty, and Navi “Nae” Richards knows this all too well. She is a ride or die to Syx, her partner of five years. When he’s arrested and ultimately sentenced to a long prison term, she remains devoted. In his absence, times are rough, but she holds it down while caring for their daughter. Nearly three years into his bid, Syx receives good news of his time being reduced. This is music to Navi’s ears, and she anticipates being with what she hopes is a changed man. But with the prison system under new corrupt authority, it becomes too easy for Syx to jump back into the drug game. Navi loves Syx, so she compromises on his hustle but what she won’t go for is extra drama; e.g. infidelity and riding out another sentence. Syx seemingly agrees to her terms, but his actions soon make it crystal clear that Navi can’t have both him and peace of mind. Making the decision to sever their romantic relationship for the sake of herself and their daughter, Navi sets out on a new path, vowing to never give love another chance to knock her down. Or at least that’s what she claims. However, Navi soon discovers that the heart and destiny do not always align with what the mind dictates.
