L'impianto narrativo dei suoi romanzi era solitamente centrato su improbabili, o quantomeno non sempre verosimili, storie di amore ed odio, con situazioni talvolta al limite dell'horror. Non mancavano ambientazioni che in qualche modo avrebbero preceduto il genere poliziesco o, su un versante pi sociale, riguardato il mondo del popolino, fonte di scandalo, per lei, donna borghese di buona famiglia.
