Deep in the mountains of Montana sits a cabin on a lake where the exiled John Lockhart resides. After a less than spectacular conclusion to his career in the FBI and the end of his marriage, Lockhart cut himself off from most of the outside world. The sometimes-private investigator spends his days enjoying nature and taking the occasional insurance fraud case for extra money. Lockhart’s ordinary life is shaken when a prospective client turns up dead, drawing him to find out the circumstances of her demise which appear to be much more than they seem.
