Oblivion

Karl didn't know how old he was but what did it matter in a universe that had died trillions of years ago? In this dark, lifeless universe which would just keep on expanding forever, where man was the only inhabitant and where the last star had died out eons ago, Karl still hoped that the race would not be condemned to outlast death and live forever in the void.
