دربارهٔ کتاب

Bianchi offers both advice and code to perform simulations of phase locked loops. He develops enough theory for you to understand the key ideas. Though this is not a book on circuit theory per se; he suggests you consult other texts for that. The accompanying CD has Mathcad and Simetrix engines. The Mathcad is the equivalent of Maple or Mathematica. It is unclear to me why he has chosen Mathcad over these. But for many readers, it is the Simetrix which will be more pertinent. It simulates analog and digital circuits. The analog portion is descended from the venerable Spice, which should be well known to any electrical engineer. You might consider the book as an indepth tutorial on Simetrix.

giovanni Bianchi Is A Senior Microwave Engineer At Sds Technology In Rome, Italy, And A Frequent Speaker At Professional Gatherings Such As The European Microwave Conference And Ieee Mtt Symposia. He Was Previously A Principal Staff Engineer With Motorola Pcs Where He Disclosed Six Pll-related Circuits. A Reviewer Of The ieee Microwave And guided Wave Letter Since 1995, Mr. Bianchi Is Also A Reviewer For ieee Microwave Magazine.

Phase locked loops (PLLs) are electronic circuits that ensure that a communications signal stays locked on a given frequency. Their design is crucial to the workings of wireless communications systems. Virtually all transceivers use PLLs to synthesize the stable, high frequency oscillations necessary for radio & wireless. This book describes how to calculate PLL performances by using standard mathematical or circuit analysis programs. Theoretical descriptions are limited to the minimum needed to explain how to perform calculations. Although presented methods of analysis can be implemented with many commercial programs, their description always refers to Mathcad and SIMetrix. Phase Locked Loop frequency synthesis is a key component of all wireless systems. This is a complete toolkit for PLL synthesizer design, with MathCAD, SIMetrix files included on CD, allowing readers to perform sophisticated calculation and simulation exercises. Describes how to calculate PLL performance by using standard mathematical or circuit analysis programs "This book/CD-ROM package provides the analyses and algorithms necessary to perform sophisticated PLL calculations and simulation exercises required for today's advanced communications equipment."--Jacket
