Analyzing the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Asian developing countries, the book is based on a survey of key literature and data on SMEs with the focus on; recent development, export performance, main constraints, competitiveness, innovation and technology transfer, and female entrepreneurs. SMEs in Asian Developing Countries is about the development of small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) in Asian developing countries beginning with the discussion of the importance and main characteristics of SMEs in the region. Based on key literature and the countries most recent data, the book then presents and discusses current development of SMEs (e.g. growth in units and output, GDP contribution, sectoral concentration and export) in a number of countries including China, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam and Vietnam.
