This story contains all the ingredients of an old-fashioned Western, set a few years from now in the wild west of England. Tex is a night clerk at a filling station, working on the wrong side of the tracks in the rundown city of Liverpool. Due to the spiralling crime rate, the government has relaxed gun laws so that vulnerable workers can carry a weapon. Tex chose a single-action, six-shooter revolver to keep himself alive, honing his skills to that of a pistoleer. Night after night he faces the flotsam and jetsam of frontier society, defending the shop’s takings with his life. And then late one night, Sarah enters his life... but not without complications. She is attached to a ruthless, local gang called the Somali Boyz. In true unflinching, gunslinger style, Tex must fight for his life to save the woman he loves, before it’s too late... I was brought up on the western novels of Louis L’Amour and Elmore Leonard by my grandfather. The Texaco Kid is my attempt at creating a traditional, Western-style hero for the modern world.
