In 1978, Detail & Scale released its first book in a new format that emphasized the physical details of the aircraft covered. This was a departure from the standard aviation books on the market which usually emphasized the history or the markings of the particular aircraft. That first Detail & Scale publication was on the F-15 Eagle which was then a new aircraft just entering operational service with Air Force unitsIn the time since that book was released the F-15 has become the premier fighter for the U.S Air Force, replacing first the F-4 Phantom in tactical fighter squadrons, and now the F-106 Delta Dart in fighter interceptor squadrons. During the same time, our book sold out of two different printings, and was the most successful of the six books we did before Detail & Scale and Aero Publishers combined efforts to expand and improve the Detail & Scale series.With the Eagle now the primary fighter in the US Air Force, and the first two printings of our book out of print, it seemed important to revise and expand our first book to meet the standards of the new Detail & Scale series that has resulted from the combination of our efforts with those of Aero Publishers We needed to include more detailed coverage of the aircraft, and we needed to provide coverage of the F-15C and F-15D that have been produced since the release of our first book…
